May is a busy month

Here is what is in the works at Video Production Services. We're gearing up to cover Colby College Commencement activities and also working with them on a video about Green Graduation. This video will highlight the steps they are taking to further reduce the College's carbon footprint.

On that note, we are taking our own steps to reduce, re-use and recycle here at Video Production Services, including using 100% recycled paper for the office, recycling and cutting down on our use of plastic video packaging.

The Friends of The Maine State Museum; New Client

We're proud to announce that we'll be working with The Friends of The Maine State Museum to produce a video promoting the upcoming At Home in Maine exhibit. This is a really exciting exhibit about home life in Maine, the largest of its kind, currently under construction at the Maine State Museum. The video will be a sneak peak at the exhibit and some of its exciting interactive features. Hopefully the video will encourage people to contribute the funds needed to complete construction of the At Home in Maine exhibit.

February In Maine

February has been a busy month here at videops. In fact, so busy, I haven't had time for postings. But being creative with video is what it's all about and I spend my time doing that. In fact, here is something I put together just for a bit of fun (in between all that work) as a tribute to February in Maine; snow and ice rule. Does it seem repetitive? Then you are getting the point...Enjoy!

Busy December

Check out the fruits of our recent editing labors. A short video we edited about the late philanthropist Harold Alfond, has now been picked up by the Bangor Daily News.
The video was created for a press conference announcing Alfond's gift of a $500 NexGen scholorship to every child born in Maine, starting in 2009.

In Progress

Things have been pretty busy here at videops.com. We are continuing our work for Colby College (www.colby.edu) and you can find our videos all over their website...here's one we created for the art museum; the making of a sand mandala.

We are just wrapping up a project for MaineGeneral Health documenting the opening of the new cancer care center in Augusta.

One fun and exciting project ongoing, is a music video for Dirigo Highway (check them out at www.dirigohighway.com), these friendly folks are an extremely talented, award winning local country band. Their original song "You're the One" will be featured in the video. We had one live taping already at a local music festival with our new Sony Z1U camera--it went great! After a short break in August, we are going back into production on this one and are really excited about the project.

Recent work

Here's some of what we've been up to at Video Production Services...
Creating a video promoting a new exhibit at the Maine State Museum; paid for by the Friends of the Maine State Museum.

A short low-budget piece for Colby College about their "Green Graduation."

Producing a highlights video of the dedication of
MaineGeneral Health's Alfond Center for Cancer Care in Augusta, Maine. It is a beautiful facility.

Woods End Laboratories
in Mt. Vernon, Maine called on us to shoot footage of their processes and to create a short informational piece for their website. Company President, Will Brinton is a leader in the field of soil science. In this segment he explains turning organic waste into biogas energy. The footage we shot there has been picked up by CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company), CNBC, and may also be used in an upcoming feature documentary.

Last Winter we worked with Colby College to create this fun video showing their efforts to be a "greener" campus. The video gained Colby College national recognition for their efforts!

Produced and edited a series of spots for MPBN.

What's new at Video Production Services

We are happy to announce the recent purchase the Sony HVR-Z1U camera. We are thrilled to have joined the world of High Definition (HD), and because the format is 16:9 instead of 4:3, we have more screen real estate to work with creatively. Can't wait to start shooting and see what we can do...
